Well done for taking this first step. We know it can be very difficult to admit or acknowledge that you have an eating disorder, however it is important that you seek help as soon as possible. Eating disorders seldom go away by themselves. Begin by talking to a friend or a family member. If this is too difficult, try a school counsellor or your local doctor. You can always take a friend with you to see someone. Before you do speak to someone you may want to do a bit more reading on the subject.

From this page you can read the most common questions we get asked about eating disorders and have a look at the signs that may indicate you have an eating disorder. Remember, an eating disorder is not just about the way you look, it’s about your thoughts and feelings. When you are ready to seek help we give some ideas on where to start and what will happen if you do come to our service.

Finally, it often feels like you are the only person in the world who is going through this. You’re not. Many other people have had similar experiences. In personal stories you will find the experiences of people similar to you. If, after all of this, you still have questions and want to know more, we have provided a list of books we recommend. Good luck and take care.
